Ultimate Antarctica

Experience the White Desert

This bespoke 24-day adventure will be one for the record books, complete with a stay at the only luxury camp in Antarctica’s interior, an unforgettable flight to the Geographic South Pole and a voyage around the wildlife-filled Peninsula onboard 77-metre luxury explorer yacht Legend.

Departing from Cape Town, South Africa, your journey to Antarctica’s interior would be an experience in itself: as you approach in a Gulfstream jet, a city of icebergs will slowly emerge before transforming into a solid layer of sea ice that runs for hundreds of kilometres.

Then, once you’ve reached Whichaway Oasis, White Desert’s newly relaunched eco-camp, you could explore 200-metre iridescent blue ice tunnels and marvel at a colony of over 28,000 emperor penguins and their chicks.

You’ll also embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey to the Geographic South Pole. What used to be the elusive goal of explorers such as Scott and Shackleton is still an exceptionally difficult spot to reach. Around 40,000 explorers visit the periphery of Antarctica each year, yet less than one per cent of that number ventures deep into the continent’s white desert.

The next leg of your adventure would see you fly across to the snow-tipped mountains and emerald rivers of Torres del Paine in Patagonia – thus linking the continents of Africa, Antarctica and South America.

Patagonia offers a totally different landscape where you can horseback ride with cowboys, mountain bike and glacier hike, before returning to the extraordinary coastline of Antarctica to board the 77-metre luxury explorer yacht M/Y Legend. A former Russian icebreaker, this vessel is equally at home cruising St Tropez as she is on a polar expedition — offering unexpected luxury in the planet’s most isolated continent.

With both a helicopter and 3-seater submersible onboard, you can take in the magnitude of Antarctica’s icebergs from the sky or from deep underwater as penguins dive en masse and leopard seals forage for prey.

This is also playground for whales. The summer months bring algae blooms, krill-rich waters and mammals that travel long distances to feed on them. So, head out on a tender with a Cookson tracker and your family could spot majestic killer, minke and humpback whales in no time at all.

This 24-day experience is available for the 20/21 and 21/22 seasons

This is a rare opportunity of exploring Antarctica’s South Pole and Peninsula by ice, air and sea.
